Alabama Football rankings Crimson occupy after defeat to Texas?

Rankings in college football can change at any time. You had a good week and then a bad week. Any voting-based ranking system is by its very nature erratic. Alabama football rankings will Crimson Tide occupy after their defeat to Texas?

After losing to Texas in Tuscaloosa in Week 2 of the season, Alabama football would discover it firsthand: Following their 34-24 loss to No. 10 Texas, the Crimson Tide, who entered the non-conference game at No. 3 in the country, are certain to experience a major drop in the rankings. The Week 3 U.S. LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 should both show the Longhorns receiving a good lift.

Jalen Milroe, the quarterback, suddenly came to his senses, completing 14 of 27 throws for 255 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. Quinn Ewers, the Texas opponent, was the victim of multiple big plays by the defense, including touchdown throws of 44 and 39 yards, respectively.

How far can Alabama expect to drop in the Week 3 U.S. LBM and AP Top 25 rankings given the several errors it made in the defeat? What we do is:

Rankings for football in Alabama: Where will the Crimson Tide land in the top 25?

If for no other reason than the fact that none of the other top-10 teams suffered a loss in Week 2, the Crimson Tide will almost surely not be rated first when the Coaches and AP polls are revealed on Sunday. The performance of the remainder of the Tide’s current team in Week 2 is broken down as follows:

  • No. 1 Georgia: 45-3 win over Ball State
  • No. 2 Michigan: 35-7 win over UNLV
  • No. 3 Alabama: 34-24 loss to No. 10 Texas
  • No. 4 Ohio State: 35-7 win over Youngstown State
  • No. 5 Florida State: vs. Southern Miss
  • No. 6 USC: vs. Stanford
  • No. 7 Penn State: 63-7 win over Delaware
  • No. 8 Washington: 43-10 win over Tulsa
  • No. 9 Tennessee: 30-13 win over Austin Peay
  • No. 10 Texas: 34-24 win over No. 3 Alabama

|Top college football predictions for Week 2

Tulane, rated 22nd, was the next-lowest-ranked team to lose in Week 2 at the time Alabama lost. It’s quite improbable that the Crimson Tide tumble that much in the standings since the mediocre victories over Austin Peay and Baylor by No. 9 Tennessee and No. 12 Utah will likely offset Alabama’s decline.

In either case, Alabama still has a lot of potential to improve going forward, both individually and collectively in the college football rankings.

ALBERTA’S TUSCALOOSA

In a news conference held on Saturday night, Nick Saban, the head coach of the Alabama football team, discussed the Crimson Tide’s 34-24 loss against the Texas Longhorns.

Coach Saban stated, “You know, this was a test for us. I warned the players earlier in the week that this would be a challenge, that we would face an excellent squad, and that we would truly find out where we were as a team. This, I said, was a test for everyone. We didn’t perform very well on the exam that was given to the coaches, me, and the other players.

For most of the night, the offensive line was pushed around. Costly fines were assessed. And the Tide is now under increased scrutiny after dropping two close games the previous year.

“It all starts with me, and I let our team down in terms of how we were able to execute and play,” said Saban.

Although Texas finally prevailed, Alabama put up a good fight, with QB Jalen Milroe producing significant passing and rushing plays. He completed 14 of 27 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns. For the remainder of the season, Saban retained faith in his team and the program despite the defeat.

“I believe in these players, and I know they have worked hard,” added Saban. “The stadium had a terrific vibe tonight, and I applaud the supporters. They undoubtedly performed their share; nevertheless, we fell short in doing ours. I’ve already stated that I am at the beginning of everything, but we will make every effort to correct the situation.

| Alabama cruises to a blowout win as a 7-point home favorite against No. 11 Texas on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.

Most of Week 2 of the 2023 college football season has already been completed. It was certainly a crazy one.

In the weekend’s main contest, No. 10 Texas defeated No. 3 Alabama 34-24 in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night, ending the Crimson Tide’s 21-game home winning run at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Deion Sanders and the No. 25 Colorado Buffaloes, who defeated rival Nebraska 36-14 in their season-opening home game, demonstrated that they are more than a one-week wonder. Shedeur Sanders gained 393 yards via the air, scored twice, and added a third score on the ground.

While Alabama, Texas Tech, and Nebraska are among the week’s losses, Colorado and Steve Sarkisian’s Longhorns are among Week 2’s victors.

Here is the rest of Saturday’s play, which included more top-10 US LBM Coaches Poll teams. And here is a whole college football TV schedule if you are already anticipating Week 3 (we’re talking about you Crimson Tide and Cornhusker supporters).
